Kenya Photography & Filming Safari

Highlights:
Duration: 14 days special photography safari.
Destinations: Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Maasai Mara National Park and Reserves
Our photography safaris offers the ultimate flexibility to respond to known wildlife movements such at the annual wildebeest migration as it unfolds across East Africa’s massive Serengeti / Masai Mara eco-system and predictions thanks to our personal insight and ground knowledge. Our specially customized 4WD safari vehicles – to give extra leg room and room for those with extra cameras with big lenses, tripods plus generous roof hatches for overhead photography – are fundamental to the success of your photography.

Our experienced guides who are sensitized to photographers understand the need to spend extended periods of time in the wilderness and the positioning of the vehicle for the often rapidly changing lighting conditions.

DETAILS

This is a special photo safari to three of Kenya’s most popular and photographically productive wildlife reserves.

After a 1 night stopover in Nairobi we drive north and reach Samburu Game Reserve in the late afternoon. Here we will spend 3 nights photographing the mammals and birds of Samburu. This reserve offers great diversity and different species to those found in the rest of Kenya. Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Oryx and Grevy’s Zebra are some of the many species you will have a chance to photograph. Lion, Leopard and Cheetah are also resident in the reserve and Samburu offers a great chance of a Leopard sighting.

After a short game drive on our final morning in Samburu we continue our drive towards Lake Nakuru with its healthy resident animal population. This is one of the best parks in Kenya to see Leopard and White and Black Rhino.

Thousands of Flamingos and other water birds saturate the lake and once again you will have wonderful opportunities to photograph yet more different species only found in this reserve. We spend 2 nights at Lake Nakuru.

After a final morning game drive we head towards our final destination, the world famous Masai Mara Reserve, Kenya’s premier wildlife destination. The reserve offers excellent photo opportunities all year round, but our focus at this time of year will be on the wildebeest migration. Up to 1.5 million wildebeest arrive in the Mara from the Serengetti to graze on the lush grass the Mara offers at this time of year. Predators accompany the frenzy of the migration and we can expect to have good Lion and Cheetah sightings.

Our very knowledgeable guides offer us the best chances of photographing river crossings and with only 3 photographers per vehicle you will have a lot of space for equipment and the freedom to explore the beautiful Mara reserve in very capable 4×4 safari vehicles.

We will stay at 2 different locations in the Mara, each one is on a different side of the Mara river, close to the popular crossing points.

Accommodation at all locations will be in comfortable hotel rooms or permanent tents, both with en-suite bathroom facilities as well as electricity to recharge batteries. All food is catered for by the lodge staff and we will always take a packed breakfast to maximize our time out in the field. We also have the option of staying out all day if necessary.

The tour will accommodate a maximum of 9 photographers in 3 vehicles. At the end of the Masai Mara section you will fly back to Nairobi (approx 45 mins) and will have a day room or an overnight stay in a city hotel before catching your evening or morning flight home.
