DAY 1
This tour departs Nairobi at 08.00 hours through agricultural highlands of Central Kenya to have a stopover at the view point of the Great Rift Valley. You descend the escarpment to arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park for lunch. Evening game drive a chance to see flamingoes, pelicans, black and white rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo and baboon among others. Stay at Lake Nakuru Lodge on full board basis
DAY 2
Early morning game drive, a chance to see the rear leopard, lion and rhino. Breakfast and lunch at the camp/lodge and depart for Nyahururu. The rest of the day and night is spent at the water fall. Stay at Thomson Falls Lodge on half board basis.
DAY 3
Early morning breakfast and depart for Maralal with a stopover at Ol Maisor Ranch which is managed by Jasper Evans and Debbie Atkin. The two are famous for a hand book on camels and their work on camel milk production, the introduction of Pakistan camels into Kenya for breeding purposes, trials on drought camels, the various areas of camel meat, camel abbotair and canning of camel meat among others. The own price racing camels and will be your host. Barbecue camel lunch provided. The journey continues with a visit to Yare safari Camp, the camel safari base. This camp hosts the famous annual Maralal International Camel Derby. Dinner and overnight at Maralal Safari Camp.
DAY 4
Early breakfast plus depart visiting General Lenges farm. Lt. General Lenges is a former Kenya army commander and is the largest indigenous camel rancher in the country with a herd of over 600 animals on 40,000 acres. He has also mixed farming carrying out many activities including the famous dorper sheep as well as ostrich and racing camels. Barbeque sheep lunch provided in the farm. Afternoon depart passing through this semi arid region with spectacular Wamba mountains to arrive Samburu game reserve in late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge.
DAY 5
Full day in the reserve to experience the thrill of an African adventure. Some of the game you can expect to see include game not seen South of the Equator such as reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, somali ostrich, gerenuk and the orxy among others. Stay overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge on full board basis.
DAY 6
Early morning breakfast and depart with a stopover at Ewaso Nyiro Development Authority (ENDA) which is a government parastatal formed to develop the arid and semi arid region the bulk of which lies in Northern Kenya. They also own racing camels and their total area of specialization is camel activity where they are trying to assist the nomads. The safari continues to Nanyuki, a town located on the Equator and at the foot of Mount Kenya and houses offices of Farm Africa, a leading non government organization (NGO) that specializes in camel extension work at every level among the nomads with a wide range of activities stretching into Ethiopia and Tanzania.
They also have camel race champions. Dr. Chris Fields has done many of his papers while working for this NGO. Lunch to be provided at Nanyuki Club. Afternoon visit Mogwani ranch famous for extensive pioneer work in camel milk production while testing the cross breeding of Pakistan animals. Dinner and overnight at Sportsman’s Arms Hotel.
DAY 7
After breakfast return to Nairobi to arrive at estimated 13.00 hours. The rest of the afternoon is spent sightseeing or shopping and drop at the airport to board your outbound flight.
